Not sure if this is the correct forum section for posting this or not, but I'll give it a shot.

I'm currently playing a game with this mod, and recently researched the Chronophasic Shield Generator. When I select the "Improved Shield" mount, all the other shields have an increase per the mount description, except the Chronophasic Shield Generator, which remains the same with/with out the mount.

Is this an overlooked bug or was it designed that way? Is there any in-game fix?

Found the issue...

In "Data\CompEnhancement.txt", the "Enhanced Shields" & "Heavy Shields" mount entries have this line:

"Comp Family Requirement := 11, 6774, 1120, 20242"

While "Improved Shields" mount entry reads:

"Comp Family Requirement := 11, 6774, "

So it's missing the "Psi-Shield" & "Chronophasic Shield" families.

You can fix it manually, or just download the fixed version from my forum:

Thanks for tracking this down and including how to fix this!

I know you're not the developer of this Mod, but do you happen to know about these items? (just curious)

- Why the Improved Shield Mount isn't available on Cruiser sized ships (but is on Light Cruisers).

- Why some types of shields/armor are not available on Weapons Platforms.

- Why Improved Shield Mounts aren't available on Weapons Platforms.

The above items might be intentional or bugs, not sure. If the developer is still around/answering emails maybe it's best to ask them.

Improved Shields mount description reads: "Improved shield emitters increasing the shield strength of smaller ships. (400kt maximum)", so that's clearly by design. Though, I'm not sure exactly which data entry controls that...

Component entries have these fields:
"Vehicle Type := Ship\Base\Sat\WeapPlat\Drone
Vechicle List Type Override := Ship,Base,Satellite,WeapPlatform
Vehicle List Type Description := Ship,Base,Satellite,Weapon Platform"
Which is what will control which vehicles comps can be placed on... Weird, I've never seen the second or third line before...I think the stock game only has the "Vehicle Type" field. Hmm.

Improved Shields mount has this field:
"Vehicle Type := Ship/Base/Satellite/Weapon Platform/Drone"
So, Light & Medium WeapPlats SHOULD have them as an option. Heavy WeapPlats should have "Enhanced Shields" mount available, assuming you have researched Physics Level 3. Is this not the case?

Not sure about contacting authors... For a while, I was pestering Black Knyght to provide me with Hi-Res comp pics, but no joy. If you decide to try, let me know how it goes!

Hmm. Read Me file indicates this Mod doesn't have working AI...is that correct?

Thanks for the reply and clarifications. Interesting stuff... maybe I should delve into modding some, might be fun.

Yeah, I think I have Physics 2, not 3, but I'll have to check when I get back to the game tonight to see about the weapons platform thing.

As for AI, currently the game I'm in doesn't have AI so I'm not sure.
