Game Restoration August 2015
[RSS]
Due to database corruption, we lost all data created between April 2014 and August 2015. If you created a game after April 2014, your game entries in the database are lost.
All of the latest savegame files are still available, however. We have gone through and updated the turn status of all games that are still active since 2014, with these conditions:
For newer games, we do not have any data available to restore them automatically. To restore any game created later than April 2014, you will need to follow these steps:
All of the latest savegame files are still available, however. We have gone through and updated the turn status of all games that are still active since 2014, with these conditions:
- If the game was not started before April 2014, and the turn status is 0, we did not take any action. We have no data on how player slots may have changed between the restoration date and the time the game started, so we cannot take any safe actions.
- If the game no longer has any game files, then we are confident that the game host ended it at some point. We have marked these games as finished. If you feel such an action was taken in error, please let us know and we can restore them.
- For other games that were in the database, we have updated the turn number to reflect the most recent savegame turn folder on the server. For most games that are still active, no action was taken because the current turn number was already the latest available.
For newer games, we do not have any data available to restore them automatically. To restore any game created later than April 2014, you will need to follow these steps:
- Create a new game on PBW2 with the same savegame name as the original game. Look at the game file name to make sure it is the same.
- Edit the game details, and set the turn number to the current turn number. This should be one greater than the in-game date, minus the starting date. SE4 games, for example, begin on date 2400.0, which is turn 1. A game at date 2405.2 would be turn 53.
- Have players join the game in the same order they were in the original game.
- If you continued processing turns offline during the outage, you will not need to restore any old files. Follow these steps:
- Click on the replace turn link (NOT upload), and upload your current host game files as a replacement for the current turn. This will keep the game dates in sync with turn numbers.
- If you did not continue processing any turns during the outage, follow these steps:
- If you have the host game files, you may proceed to restore your turn on your own. Click on the replace turn link (NOT upload), and upload your current host game files as a replacement for the current turn. This will keep the game dates in sync with turn numbers.
- If you do not have the host game files, please post a thread in the Support forum with a request to restore your files. Please include the savegame name so that we can grab the correct files.
